My work

Two lists that state what an operator is supposed to be working on. They are located under Stockly → Operations → My work.

Yours to finish

Yours to finish is work the operator has already started and not closed, from any screen: the order list, the workstation, another device. Work remains assigned to that operator until it is finished, so interrupting a run does not transfer it to somebody else.

Clicking the name in the Work column has the same effect as Continue in the row’s menu: it reopens the run at the point where it was interrupted.

Work delivered to a device

Work does not only wait to be found. A rule can display it as a card with one button on the device it belongs to: on the tablet in the aisle when picking starts, and on the bench when packing begins. → Work automation

Giving work back

Give back to the pool in the row’s menu is used when the current operator cannot finish the work. The wave keeps everything collected so far and is no longer assigned to that operator: it moves to Waiting to be taken, and any available operator continues from the point where the work stopped.

This is not the same as cancelling. Nothing is unpicked, no order leaves the wave, and the part of the walk already completed is preserved.

Note

The action is offered only for picking waves that are open or in progress, because only these can be shown on the waiting list. A put-away or a wave on hold remains assigned to its operator, because handing it back would remove it from that list without placing it on anybody else’s.

Waiting to be taken

Stockly → Operations → My work → Waiting to be taken contains planned waves that nobody has started. The columns are the same, except that the last one is Planned: the time the wave was created, not the time it was last touched, because it has not been touched. The first operator to work on a wave claims it, and from that moment it is assigned to them and appears in the other list. Take it opens it.

Note

The two lists never show the same job. Once a wave is claimed it leaves the waiting list. If it appears in both lists, the page is showing a stale copy and a refresh resolves it.

What the device changes

The role a device carries narrows what is offered on it: a screen set to Packing bench or Unpacking bench is not shown picking waves, because a bench does not collect goods in the aisles. A device with no role set is shown every kind of work; narrowing is an explicit setting, not a default.

The role narrows the offer but never blocks access: every job remains reachable from the order list and from the warehouse. → Terminals

A wave nobody starts

Planning a wave claims its orders, so a browser that closed before anybody picked from the wave would keep those orders claimed indefinitely. An hourly clean-up releases waves from which nothing has been collected, after the time set in Release an unstarted wave after this many minutes under Packing settings. A wave with even one collected item is never released.

The released orders return to the pool and can be planned into another operator’s wave.
