Reported shortages

A shortage reported during picking does not end with the message: it goes onto a list, where it waits to be settled.

The list

Reported, Product, Warehouse, Bin, Expected, Found, Missing, Reason, Order, Correction at report, Re-earmarked, Status, Reported by.

Filters: warehouse, shelf correction, status, reason and report date.

What happened to the shelf

The Correction at report column says whether stock was corrected there and then:

Value	Meaning
Corrected	the shelf was set to the quantity reported as found
Over tolerance	a correction was allowed, but the difference exceeded the threshold — the stock was left for a count
Part of bin only	the picker was looking at their own line, not the whole bin, so there is nothing to base a correction on
Left to a count	the operator counted the bin and chose to let a counting session settle it
Off by setting	correcting the shelf from reports is switched off

A shelf left uncorrected is therefore often a deliberate decision rather than an oversight.

Report status

Awaiting a count — waiting to be counted,
Settled by a count — settled by counting,
Withdrawn — withdrawn by the operator.

Settling by counting

Select reports and use Count the selected bins; the module starts a counting session covering those locations. The reports are closed once the session is posted.

A single report has Count this article on the bin and Show the bin in its menu.

The module also states how many reports were left out and why: already settled, withdrawn, or without a named location.

The purpose of the list

A reported shortage is two pieces of information at once: operational (“this order will not ship in full”) and diagnostic (“something does not add up on that shelf”). The list serves both: the first immediately, the second by sending the location to be counted.

Repeated reports from the same rack indicate that the cause lies in the process: in receiving, in put-away, or in the way the location is described.
