Stocktakes

A stocktake is the only tool that establishes what is actually on the shelf. Every other source, from movement history through integrity checks to the reports, is based on the quantity the module has recorded.

Two purposes

What is this session for? separates two different jobs:

• Count quantities only — the operator counts quantities, and the module hides its own figure so as not to suggest it,
• Verify locations only — the operator checks whether goods sit where they should, and the module shows its expectation, because otherwise a missing item cannot be spotted,
• Count and verify locations — both at once.

Verifying locations

When verifying locations every line gets a verdict: In the right place, Wrong location, No location assigned or Not on this warehouse.

Posting the session moves found goods to the location they were actually in — without touching quantities. The summary states how many lines are affected.

Scope and level

Scope: Whole warehouse, Floor, Rack or Specific bins.

Counting level: By bin + product (total) or By bin + product + batch when counting goods with lots and expiry dates.

Guided sessions

Guided session with Propose bins hands the choice of locations to the module. Every proposal carries its reason:

• Never checked — the location has never been counted,
• Due by schedule — the cadence says so (with how many days overdue),
• Open integrity finding — there is an open integrity finding on it,
• Relocation suggested — a relocation has been proposed.

Cycle counting therefore does not require a separate plan in a spreadsheet: the module proposes what should be counted in a given week.

Accuracy

The Stock check accuracy card shows Location accuracy and SKU accuracy for the recent period, together with the basis (“so many of so many counted lines matched”).

Caution

Below 95% accuracy the stock figures cannot be relied on for planning. The figure describes the data behind purchase and replenishment suggestions rather than the performance of the team.

Accuracy by operator is a training indicator, not a ranking. An operator whose counts deviate consistently is usually counting goods that are described ambiguously.

Relocation suggestions

The warehouse card has a Relocation suggestions action, which lists proposals for moving goods within the building. Columns: Product, Reason, Priority, Current bin, Suggested bin.

Reasons: Velocity increased and Velocity decreased (the goods started or stopped selling), Stock consolidation (scattered across many locations), Expiry risk (shelf life running out).

A proposal is either accepted (Accept & move) or dismissed (Dismiss). On acceptance the location choice can be left to the module (Auto-suggest on accept).

An accepted proposal is one of the reasons a location later shows up for counting.

Reverting a session

A posted session is reverted from the operations list with Revert stocktake. It reverses that session’s corrections, leaves later unrelated changes alone, and cannot be undone.
