Location profiles

A location profile describes a kind of location: a shelf, a pallet, a flow rack, bulk storage. Instead of entering a capacity on every location, the type is described once and referenced wherever it applies.

The list

Columns: Name, Code, Bin type, Mixing mode, Fill factor, Max weight. Profiles marked System are built in.

Parameters

• Code — the stable identifier; it cannot be changed after creation.
• Name — a human-readable name.
• Bin type — Shelf, Pallet, Flow or Bulk.
• Mixing mode — Shared (several products per location), Dedicated (one product) or Single SKU.
• Fill factor (0–1) — how much of a location’s volume goods can actually occupy. 0.6 means a location is treated as full at 60%.
• Max weight (kg) — the permissible load.

The inheritance cascade

A profile is named at three levels, and the lower one wins:

1. warehouse — Default location profile in the building’s settings,
2. floor — Default location profile when creating or editing a floor,
3. rack — the element’s profile.

An exception is therefore described where it occurs, rather than on every location separately.

Effect on daily work

Profiles are one of the sources of capacity when recomputing locations and they feed bin suggestions at put-away: a location that cannot carry the goods is never proposed.

Deleting

Deleting a profile is permanent. The levels that used it fall back to their own explicit values: they do not lose capacity, they stop inheriting it.
