Columns

A column tells the module where across the table’s width to look for a given piece of information. The list of columns should match the layout of the line-item table on the supplier’s invoice.

Parameters

• Name — the column’s name, used later in mappings.
• Start range — the starting column, e.g. A.
• End range — the ending column, e.g. B.

A range can cover one column (A – A) or several adjacent ones (A – C), when a value spills over or the document has no clear vertical lines.

Choosing ranges

1. Upload a test document and see how the module split the table.
2. Create columns matching that split, not the way the table looks to the eye.
3. Check the result on the import job and correct the ranges if values landed in the wrong place.

Tip

Columns describe the layout, mappings describe the meaning. If a value is read but assigned to the wrong field, fix the mapping. If a value is not read at all, fix the column.
