Initial setup
Immediately after installation Stockly has access to the product catalogue but is not yet responsible for stock. The Stockly setup wizard changes that: it links the catalogue, so that every product receives its own stock record and orders start creating warehouse movements.
Where to find it
Section titled “Where to find it”The wizard opens automatically the first time the module is entered. Later it is started from the dashboard — Catalogues → Stockly → Dashboard, the Setup wizard tile in Quick Start — or from the module settings.
How many steps
Section titled “How many steps”The number of steps depends on the options selected:
- Ten, if a field holding bin codes is selected: Welcome, Warehouse, Location field, Bin code format, Preview, Finalize, Open orders, Variant stock, Your traffic, Finish.
- Eight, if the field is skipped — Bin code format and Preview are omitted.
- Five, when the wizard is run later from a warehouse card as location mapping: Location field, Bin code format, Preview, Finalize, Open orders. That variant is described in Location mapping.
Step by step
Section titled “Step by step”Welcome
Section titled “Welcome”A summary of what is about to happen: a default warehouse is selected, a field containing bin codes is selected if there is one, and the whole catalogue is linked at the end. The wizard can be run again at any time.
Warehouse
Section titled “Warehouse”Default warehouse selects the warehouse the module works with by default. The warehouse can also be renamed here in the Warehouse name field.
If no warehouse exists at all, the wizard offers to open the creation form (Create warehouse). Leaving for the form closes the wizard, so create the warehouse and start the wizard again.
Location field
Section titled “Location field”An optional step, relevant if locations are currently held in a product field. Source type selects the kind of source (Product field or Custom field), and the field itself is selected below: Product number, EAN, Manufacturer number, or a custom field from the chosen Custom field set. The My field is not on the list option allows a technical name to be entered manually.
Below that, the wizard displays how many distinct values it found and on how many products, which is the quickest way to verify that the correct field has been selected.
Bin code format
Section titled “Bin code format”This step defines how a value becomes a bin code: the separator and the letter case, so that 0F / E4
results in 0F-E4. The step also contains Only map codes matching (optional), a code filter for
the case where one field describes two buildings (* matches any characters, ? exactly one).
Preview
Section titled “Preview”The preview displays Bins to create, Products with a location, Values matching existing
bins, No matching bin, Left out by the code filter and Placeholder values (skipped).
Values such as null or n/a are not locations, and no bins are created from them.
If several products share the same location, the wizard reports it and, on finishing, switches the warehouse to the shared storage strategy so that those bins remain editable.
Finalize
Section titled “Finalize”Start setup runs the actual work. Progress is displayed in stages: creating bins, linking the catalogue, mapping locations. Leave the tab open until All done. is displayed.
Open orders
Section titled “Open orders”Orders placed before the start had their goods deducted by Shopware, and they carry no demand in the module yet. Adopt open orders restores both at once, and the sellable quantity does not change. Details and the later route to the same operation: A shop that already sells.
Variant stock
Section titled “Variant stock”This step switches on the mode in which a parent product’s stock is the sum of its variants. The first synchronisation runs in the background and its progress is displayed here. The button shows a progress indicator for the whole run, so leave the step open. If the run fails, the wizard keeps you on this step and the button changes into a retry.
Your traffic
Section titled “Your traffic”This step requires no input. The module analyses the order history of the last three months and reports what it found: Orders looked at, Single-item orders, Lines per order and Items per order. On that basis it proposes a wave size, and the button applies it in one click.
In a shop with mostly single-item orders the wave is measured in orders: one walk collects many complete orders, and the packing station packs them one by one. A shop with large baskets receives a wave measured in items and kept short, because a trolley fills up. Traffic between these two cases receives a medium-sized wave.
Nothing in this step is required: skipping it leaves the default values, and whatever is applied can be changed later under Packing settings → Quick Pick. If there are too few orders to draw a conclusion from, the step states this instead of proposing a value, and it is worth returning to the step after a busier month.
Finish
Section titled “Finish”The summary, which leads on to the module settings or directly to drawing the floor plan.
