Printing

Stockly → Operations → Printing → Settings holds the decisions that apply to the whole print queue. It is reached from the printing section itself, at the foot of its rail and of its flyout, not from the Settings entry in the bar.

Delivery

Delivery attempts — how many times a job is tried before it is marked as failed. Default 3.

Delay before the first retry (seconds) — default 15. It doubles with every further attempt and never grows past an hour.

Release claimed jobs after (minutes) — default 5. A job that a browser or a worker took but never acknowledged goes back to Waiting after this, so that it does not remain on a computer that was closed.

Retention

Keep finished jobs for (days) — default 30. Failed jobs are not covered by this: they remain until they are dealt with.

Devices and stations

Printer identification timeout (seconds) — default 3. How long the wizard waits for a printer to introduce itself when the arrows in the address field are pressed.

Ask the queue every (seconds) — default 3. How often the print station in the top bar looks for work.

Keep printing while the tab is in the background — off by default. It is switched on for a computer whose only task is printing and whose administration tab is never in the foreground. Browsers slow hidden tabs down to roughly one request a minute, so this setting provides eventual delivery rather than prompt delivery; a bench that needs the label immediately should keep the tab in the foreground.

Zebra Browser Print address — where that service listens on the packing computer. It is left empty unless the port was changed during installation; empty means the address it installs itself on. It is the packing computer’s own address, not the shop server’s, which is why it is the same value at every station and normally needs nothing filled in.
