Shipping

Stockly → Operations → Shipping → Settings holds what applies to every carrier. It is reached from the shipping section itself, at the foot of its rail and of its flyout, not from the Settings entry in the bar.

Note

Anything that differs from one carrier to another belongs to the packaging rule for that shipping method, not here: weight limits, how to split, and when to order shipments. The page states this and offers Go to packaging rules.

Booking

Booking attempts — how often a carrier is asked for a shipment before the parcel is marked as failed. Default 3.

Delay before the first retry (seconds) — default 60, doubling with every further attempt and never growing past an hour.

Note

This starts higher than the print queue on purpose. A carrier that just refused is usually rate limiting or briefly down, and frequent retries make both worse.

Retention

Keep parcel records for (days) — default 180. Parcels of completed orders older than this may be cleaned up. This is longer than the print queue retains, because a tracking code is evidence in a dispute long after the label is gone.

Assignment

Every item must belong to a parcel — off by default. When on, packing cannot be finished while items are unassigned. It is left off where the split is made by parcel count only.

Box capacities

Learn from parcels packed in the last (days) — how far back the module looks when working out what each box has actually been seen to hold. Default 365. The figure is recomputed once a day, so a newly measured carton is taken into account from the next day rather than immediately.

Caution

Anything below 30 days is treated as 30. A window shorter than the catalogue’s rotation cannot collect the parcels a pair of article and carton needs, so it does not tighten the learning; it switches it off without any message.

When a shipment may be booked

A label costs money the moment it is created, and the window to cancel one at the carrier is short.

Never book a shipment in these order states — cancelled and withdrawn orders belong here.

Only book a shipment in these payment states — an empty field means shipping regardless of payment, which is the default: invoice customers and marketplaces that settle later are entirely normal cases. The newest transaction decides.

When a booking is refused for one of these reasons, the parcel panel on the order states which one and which state it saw.
