Owners

An owner answers the question whose goods are these. As long as all the stock belongs to the shop, the subject does not exist. It matters when the warehouse holds consigned goods: third-party logistics for a client, sale-or-return, or a supplier’s stock.

The list

Name, Code, E-mail, Active. The built-in Own owner means the shop’s own goods, is always active and cannot be disabled.

Add owner creates a new one: a name, a short unique code (e.g. ACME), an e-mail, a phone number and notes.

Caution

Deleting an owner does not delete documents: purchase orders that referenced it fall back to the shop’s own goods. That consequence has to be taken into account before the list is tidied.

Keeping goods apart in the warehouse

An owner on a document is not sufficient by itself: where those goods may lie also has to be decided. That is the warehouse’s Owner bin sharing setting:

• Shared (unowned bins are open to all) — bins with no owner accept any client’s goods, while racks and bins with an owner stay exclusive,
• Strict (only matching-owner bins) — goods only go to their owner’s bins, which requires every rack to have an owner assigned.

Where owners show up

• On a purchase order — whose goods are arriving.
• On floor elements — whose rack it is.
• In the integrity check — when goods ended up on another owner’s location in strict mode.
