Suggest manufacturer
When you type a product name, P2Lab AI can read it and propose the manufacturer, so you don’t have to pick it from the dropdown by hand. It either matches an existing manufacturer or offers to create a new one — and it never overwrites a manufacturer you’ve already set.
How to use
Section titled “How to use”- Open a product: Catalogues → Products → select a product (or create a new one).
- In the General information card, type or paste the Name.
- Leave the Name field (click elsewhere or press Tab). If the Manufacturer field is still empty, the AI reads the name in the background and reacts:
- Match found — the Manufacturer field is filled automatically and a green notification shows Manufacturer filled by AI: {name} with an Undo action.
- No match — a notification shows Manufacturer ‘{name}’ does not exist yet. Create it? with a Create button. Nothing is created until you click Create; then the new manufacturer is added and assigned to the product.
- Save the product to keep the manufacturer.
The suggestion only runs when the product has a name, the Manufacturer field is empty, and the feature is enabled. It never touches a manufacturer you’ve already chosen.
Configuration
Section titled “Configuration”The feature is off by default. Turn it on under Settings → Suggestions → Automatic field suggestions:
- Auto-suggest manufacturer from product name — enables the on-blur suggestion described above.
See Settings.
In bulk
Section titled “In bulk”To fill the manufacturer across many products at once, run a Field mapping (AI extract) job — see Field Mapping AI. In bulk mode the job only matches existing manufacturers; names with no match are sent to review rather than silently created, so you stay in control of new manufacturer records.
