Suggest categories

This assistant reads a product’s text and proposes which categories it belongs to. The suggestions land in the product form for you to review — they are added only when you save the product.

  1. Open a product: Catalogues → Products → select a product.
  2. In the card holding the Categories and Search keywords fields, click AI assistant and choose Suggest categories.
  3. In the Suggest categories modal, set:
    • AI connection — which connection to use.
    • Number of categories — how many to ultimately pick (1–10).
    • Source fields — which product fields to feed the AI as context: Name, Description, Manufacturer.
    • How the AI uses those fields: Only the selected fields, Source fields + model knowledge, or Source fields + web search.
    • Additional instructions (optional) — e.g. prefer leaf categories, never use a Sale category.
    • Scope rules (optional) — add one or more rows to limit the search to part of the tree. Each row picks root categories (the subtree plus its descendants) with its own Min / Max picks, and a Disabled toggle to allow inactive categories from that subtree. Leave the list empty to search the whole tree.
  4. Click Run AI. The proposed categories appear with the AI’s Reasoning.
  5. Remove any you don’t want, then click Apply to form. Save the product to keep them.

When you add more than one Scope rule, the way the AI handles those scopes is controlled globally under Settings → Processing → Category suggestions — scope handling → How to handle multiple category scopes:

  • Single request — instruct the AI to treat each scope independently (default) — one request, the AI is told to respect each scope’s own picks.
  • Combined — single request, shared budget — one request where the requested number of categories is shared across all scopes.
  • Separate request per scope — one request per scope rule, so each scope gets its full budget (more requests, higher cost).
