Edit image
Edit Image generates a new variant of an existing product image using OpenAI’s image edit endpoint. You can replace the background with one of several presets, do targeted pin-based edits, or write a fully custom prompt.
Presets
Section titled “Presets”The plugin ships with these edit presets:
- Pins only (preserve rest) — apply only pin-based edits, keep the rest of the image untouched
- Studio background — clean studio backdrop with soft shadow
- Outdoor scene — natural outdoor setting, soft morning light
- Beach scene — beach-at-sunset scene
- Wooden surface — rustic wooden surface, warm light
- Minimalist white — pure white minimalist aesthetic
- Promo banner (sports nutrition) — turns a plain product photo into a high-impact 1:1 marketing banner (brand block, bold name, feature icons, hero shot with splash). Aimed at sports / supplement / wellness products
- Promo banner — editorial cream — refined editorial 1:1 banner on a warm cream background, premium look for whey / protein / wellness ranges
- Promo banner — combat grunge — aggressive high-energy 1:1 banner: dark navy background, paint-splatter overlays and distressed grunge typography
- Custom (write your own) — type your own prompt
Presets are editable in AI Assistant → Prompt templates, and you can add your own image-edit preset with the Add a template wizard.
How to use
Section titled “How to use”Single image
Section titled “Single image”- Open a product → Media section.
- Open the image edit modal in one of two ways:
- Context menu on an image — right-click any image thumbnail → Edit with AI, or
- AI assistant button in the section header — opens the modal with the first image selected.
- The modal Edit image with AI has these fields:
- Profile — saved inline profile (optional)
- AI connection — the model that will run the request
- Style preset — pick one of the seven presets (or Custom)
- Output size —
auto (original),1024×1024,1536×1024,1024×1536 - Apply as —
replace, prependorappend(controls where the result lands) - Auto-apply without review — toggle to skip the preview step when running in bulk
- Prompt — free-text instructions (optional, required for the Custom preset)
- Pin editor — visually drop one or more pins on the image and describe what should change at each pin location
- Click Generate. The preview shows the original on the left and the AI result on the right.
- Click Save (or Save & close) to keep the result, or Generate again to retry.
Multiple images on one product
Section titled “Multiple images on one product”- Click the AI assistant button in the Media section header. If the product has more than one image, the modal opens with a thumbnail strip at the top showing every product image — tick the ones you want to edit (Ctrl/Cmd-click to select multiple, or use Select all / Deselect all).
- Configure the modal once (preset, size, strategy) — the same settings apply to every image you selected.
- Click Generate to process the current image, then Next to move to the next thumbnail. The status badge Applied marks images you’ve already saved.
- Optional: use Run in background to process the entire batch without watching each one. The whole selection is processed in the background — you can close the modal and reopen it later to find the results waiting where you left off.
From the media library
Section titled “From the media library”The same modal is available outside of products. Right-click an image in Content → Media and pick Edit with AI. Because there’s no product–media context, the Apply as field instead offers to create a new file, overwrite the original, or overwrite it while keeping a backup.
Pin-based edits
Section titled “Pin-based edits”For the Pins only preset (or any preset combined with pins) you can drop one or more pins onto the image and describe what should change at each pin location. The model treats the rest of the image as fixed and only operates inside the pin mask. Useful for fixing a label, adding a colour swatch, or removing a stray object.
