Standard badges
A Standard badge appears only on products you assign to it. There is no automatic condition — if a product is not in the assignment, the badge does not render.
Use Standard badges for promotions, manual highlights, editorial badges and anything that does not match one of the automatic types (Discount, New, Out of Stock, Top Seller).
How assignment works
Section titled “How assignment works”Standard badges can be assigned in four overlapping ways. A product gets the badge if any of these match.
| Tab | Effect |
|---|---|
| Products | Direct assignment — pick individual products. |
| Categories | Badge appears on every product in the selected categories, with category inheritance. |
| Manufacturers | Badge appears on every product from the selected manufacturers. |
| Product streams | Badge appears on every product matching the dynamic stream criteria. |
You can mix these freely — e.g. assign to a category but exclude individual products by leaving them off the product list (the category match still wins, so use a rule instead if you need an exclusion).
Quick assignment from product / category / manufacturer pages
Section titled “Quick assignment from product / category / manufacturer pages”You do not have to navigate to the badge module to assign a Standard badge. On the edit page of a product, category, manufacturer or product stream you will find a Badges section where you can attach badges directly. The plugin keeps the relationship in sync — the same badge then appears in both the badge form and the product/category/manufacturer/stream form.
See Assignment overview for the full UX.
Combined with rules
Section titled “Combined with rules”You can layer Shopware rules on top of any Standard assignment — e.g. assign to a category but only render the badge for logged-in customers or during a date range. Rules apply after the assignment match, so they narrow the visibility, never widen it.
See Rules & visibility.
When to use
Section titled “When to use”- One-off promotions (“Save 20% this weekend”) on a small product list.
- Editorial picks (“Editor’s choice”) curated by hand.
- Anything where you need precise control over which products show the badge.
If you find yourself maintaining a long list of products manually, consider using a product stream instead — the stream auto-updates as products match its criteria.
